Eligibility and Notification
All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Cruise West does not sponsor work visas for non-citizens or non-residents of the United States. As a condition of employment you will be required to submit proof of eligibility.

We ask applicants to provide at least three (3) verifiable work references with current telephone information.
As a condition of hire, all applicants will be asked to sign a release for Cruise West to conduct a background check dating back 10 years.
Seattle Corporate Office
Generally, positions available in our Seattle Corporate Office are full-time, year-round and have traditional office working hours. Competitive wages and comprehensive benefits are offered. Our office is located in the Belltown district of Seattle, Washington, a dynamic neighborhood full of good restaurants nestled between downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. The working atmosphere is friendly, efficient and productive. Office attire is business casual. Employees must be well groomed with a professional appearance.

Driving Records
Commercial driving positions require a minimum age of 21 years to satisfy DOT licensing requirements. Candidates selected for any driving position will be asked to submit proof of valid driver's license and motor vehicle record for the past three years. Candidates for commercial driving positions may be required to furnish additional reference contact information.
Drug and Alcohol Testing
Cruise West is committed to achieving and maintaining a safe and productive workplace free from employees affected by drugs and alcohol. All driving positions will be subject to the following categories of DOT/FHWA drug testing: pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident/incident, and random. These employees will also be subject to the following categories of required DOT/FHWA alcohol testing: reasonable suspicion, post-accident/incident, return-to-duty, follow-up, and random. Commercial driver candidates will also be subject to a physical examination as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Physical Demands
All Alaska Land and Shore Support positions can be physically demanding. Repetitive motion, kneeling, bending, pulling, pushing and heavy lifting are requirements of most positions. Regardless of title, most of our team members will handle passenger luggage on a daily basis, requiring the ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively throughout the course of a day. Please carefully study the job descriptions for physically demanding tasks associated with each position.
Uniform/Grooming Standards for Alaska Land and Shore Support positions
At Cruise West it is important that your attire and personal grooming reflect a positive, professional image. The Company provides uniforms. Uniforms must be kept clean, neat and orderly at all times. Employees are responsible for the laundering and ironing of personal uniforms. Additional grooming and appearance standards include:
Jewelry: Jewelry for both men and women must be very basic. Men are not permitted to wear earrings and women may only wear one pair of conservative earrings. No other visible piercing, such as tongue rings or studs, may be worn.
Hair: Hairstyles for both men and women must be neat, business-like, well combed and conservative in style. (No blue, green, bright yellow or other colors not generally found in natural hair colorings). Men's hair must be short (above the collar) and styled conservatively off the face. Women may wear long hair if it is pulled back neatly when working.
Facial hair: Men are permitted to wear a beard and/or mustache and goatee if the style is conservative and neat.
Tattoos: Visible Tattoos are not permitted and must be covered at all times while on duty in Alaska Land.
Hats: Hats may be provided to employees as part of their uniform. Hats should be removed when indoors.
Shoes: You must provide your own socks and shoes. They must be black. Shoes must be worn at all times while on the vessel. For safety reasons open toed shoes are not allowed.
Seasons, Hours and Scheduling
Shore Support
Shore Support positions are generally available in the Spring and Fall. Please check the posted job description for exact employment dates. Generally, Shore Support staff work short 4-6 week seasons. Work hours are typically 8am € 5pm, two to three days a week.
Alaska Land
Most Alaska Land positions are seasonal from May to September, with training starting in April. Work hours can be irregular and require flexibility. Some positions may work in excess of 10hrs/per day and may include overnight stays in different locations. Employees generally work 5 days a week and have 2 days off, however, some employees may work more than 5 days a week. In Alaska, non-exempt positions receive overtime compensation for any hours worked over 8 in a day or 40 in a week.
