THE B.E.A.R. FACTS

1. What is the B.E.A.R. Program?
The B.E.A.R. Program is a marketing agreement between Cruise West and our agency partners to promote an itinerary during a select season.

2. As a Travel Agent, how do I earn B.E.A.R. Program benefits?
Select the itineraries that you would like to promote during a season (no more than three itineraries may have a B.E.A.R. agreement in any one season).  Then, develop and execute your marketing plan.   Provide Cruise West with samples of your marketing initiatives.  Bookings can be made under your B.E.A.R. agreement as soon as a B.E.A.R. number is issued to you.  Your B.E.A.R. number will be issued once we have received your proof of promotion. Marketing dollars will be applied once Cruise West receives proof of your promotion for the specified itinerary.  Any booking you make on that itinerary will have the B.E.A.R. Marketing Dollars applied. Up to two pre-existing bookings can apply toward the end-of-season commission override (see Question 4). NOTE: Pre-existing bookings (prior to an agreement being established or proof of promotion being sent) will not be eligible for the Marketing Dollars.

3. Are there any other Terms and Conditions of the B.E.A.R. Program?
B.E.A.R. Marketing Dollars are calculated from the cruise-only price and do not include any land packages.  Please note that for Alaska “C” Tours, the B.E.A.R. agreement only applies to the primary cruise.  Example: For Tour 7C, the MD are calculated from the Tour 7A pricing only. B.E.A.R. Program bookings are eligible for Early Booking and Early Final Payment Discounts, as well as the 5% Quyana Club Discount and the Onboard Booking Discount. B.E.A.R. Programs may not be converted to Group programs, or combined with Group discounts.

4. How does the end-of season commission override work?
The end-of-season B.E.A.R. commission override payment is similar to a Tour Conductor (TC) credit and is calculated for every 10 paid guests.  B.E.A.R. commission overrides are paid after the last sailing of the season for each itinerary.  The commission override is based upon the average net, cruise-only fare of the cabins sold throughout the season. NOTE: Net, cruise-only fare is the published brochure rate for cruise-only less discounts, taxes and commission. A maximum of  four TC credits can be earned for each B.E.A.R. agreement. There are no partial credits if you do not complete a full set of 10 guests.

5. How do I sign up for Cruise West’s B.E.A.R. Program?
It’s quick, convenient, and easy to sign up for a B.E.A.R. Program on this website.  Or you may simply email, fax, or mail: your name, IATA/CLIA number, phone number, and the itineraries you wish to promote under the B.E.A.R. Program.
